I started working as a critic for the Danish national paper Det fri Aktuelt in 1991 contributing dance reviews as well as editorial pieces. I was later attached to Denmark’s leading daily, Politiken, as a theatre and dance critic, and also contributed to the L.A. Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and San Francisco Examiner, Dance Magazine, Dancing Times and others.
Over the years, I have ghostwritten several books, translated Macbeth into English (!) and Anthony Everett’s Hadrian and the Triumph of Rome into Danish, and am the author of Vera Volkova – en dans af uskyld og erfaring (2005) and Erik Bruhn – Billedet indeni (2008), both published by Nyt Nordisk Forlag, Copenhagen. An English edition of the Vera Volkova biography was published by Dancebooks UK in 2007.
Today, I contribute mainly to Kristeligt Dagblad, POV International (DK), Danstidningen (S) and Danceviewtimes (US), and I am currently writing an introduction to ballet for the Danish publishing house Gyldendal.
